The Shipper/Packer position is responsible for preparing and packaging products for shipment including loading various products into trucks and shipping containers and securing each load for damage-free transit. Fleetwood operates from 6:00am-4:30pm Monday through Thursday with opportunities for overtime during the summer on Fridays.

Essential Functions:

  • Verifies that products match customer order quantities and descriptions and makes written and computerized records of packaging and shipping information.
  • Utilizes carpentry skills with hand tools and power tools to fabricate cartons, skids, crates, and other custom packaging.
  • Wraps, protects, bands, seals, glues, nails, and labels products as needed for damage-free shipment.
  • Weighs, stacks, and arranges items being staged for shipment, then loads products into trucks and shipping containers and secures each load for damage-free transit.
  • Coordinates with Assembly, KD Pack, Material Handling, PIC and the Sales/Customer Service departments as needed to meet production and shipping schedules.
  • Performs all job duties in accordance with safe work practices.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates clear communication, both verbal and written, with peers and managers.
  • Self-motivated needing minimal supervision and has a good attendance record.
  • Must be able to perform visual quality inspections and apply aerosol spray paints.
  • Must be organized, accurate, and attentive to details.
  • Must have basic computer literacy.
  • The ability to understand written shipping documentation and instructions required.
  • Must have the ability to assist seasonal/summer help with assigned work.

Licenses or Certifications Required:

  • Must have a Forklift license or the ability to obtain a forklift license

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to use required measuring tools such as calipers, gauges, tape measure, etc.
  • Ability to work cooperatively within the team as well as with members of other teams as needed.
  • Demonstrates willingness to adapt to a continually changing environment.
  • Must have the flexibility to work varied hours as business needs require.
  • Must be competent in basic math skills such as counting, adding, and subtracting.

Physical Demands

  • Required to stand, walk, and use hands for the duration of the shift.
  • Must have the ability to regularly lift and move up to 25 lbs., and occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs.

We currently have openings for Machine Operators in our Wood department on Day Shift or Night Shift. Production on Day Shift runs from 6:00am-4:30pm and on Night Shift from 4:45pm-3:15am Monday through Thursday with opportunities for overtime during the summer! Any candidates interested in Night Shift would also receive a shift premium of an automatic additional $1.25/hr.

The Machine Operator position would, under limited supervision, operate machinery and use various processes and equipment to fabricate, manufacture, assemble or move products while meeting all necessary specifications and quality control standards. Performs set ups, follows written instructions, and reads drawing specifications for multiple types of machinery.

Essential Functions:

  • Following Standard Work Instructions, operates multiple types of production machines involving difficult operations, close tolerances, and complex set-ups of parts of irregular shapes.
  • Loads and operates general manufacturing equipment.
  • Reads and interprets dimensions and other information from all types of drawings.
  • Completes daily and necessary paperwork.
  • Consistently performs quality checks by utilizing measurement tools and devices.
  • Maintains a clean, safe working environment according to 5S and department safety guidelines.
  • Reads, understands, communicates, and interprets written and verbal instruction, work documentation, policies, and practices, etc., which are written in the English language.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

The Powder Coat Painter/Finish position, under limited supervision, operates finish equipment to apply powder coat finishes to parts and components while meeting all necessary specifications and quality control standards. Understands the process of hang and de-hang.

We currently have positions open on Day Shift (Monday through Thursday 6:00am - 4:30pm) and on night shift (Monday through Thursday 4:45pm - 3:15am). All staff working on night shift receive a night-shift premium of an additional $1.25/hour on top of their normal hourly rate. There is also an opportunity for overtime on Friday's during our busy season.

Essential Functions:

  • Following Standard Work Instructions, operates powder coat controls and applies powder according to “Job Instruction”.
  • Understands the principles of hang/de-hang process.
  • Reads and interprets dimensions and other information from all types of drawings.
  • Completes daily and necessary paperwork.

This position would assemble of a wide variety of products and sub-assemblies using hand tools, jigs, fixtures, and air tools. Work is performed in a manufacturing setting at a standard rate of work to provide high quality products completed and delivered in a timely manner.

We currently have a position open on night shift (7:30pm - 6:00am Monday through Thursday) with great opportunities for overtime on Fridays during the summer!

Essential Functions:

  • Assembles product using basic hand tools and techniques
  • Reads, understands, communicates, and interprets written and verbal instructions, work documentation, policies and practices, etc., which are written in the English language
  • Follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible
  • Maintains a clean, safe working environment
  • Performs other duties as requested
